As part of WP3 (a work package which deals with the involvement of users and co-design), we gathered adults with intellectual disabilities from Zavod RISA in order to assess how well they were able to understand easy-to-see news formats for radio, TV and web.
They gave us concrete and meaningful thoughts on clarity of language, speed of speech, layout, explanations of complicated words, subtitling, structure and general accessability.
Their feedback will be used as input for developing general guidelines and best practices for creating easy-to-understand journalism.
WP 3, which was introduced in December 2025, makes inclusion, participation and diversity central themes of the ENACT project. We are using consultation meetings, stakeholder involvement and co-design workshops to create an online hub of recommendations and examples that can assist journalists who want to produce accessible news content through all types of media platforms.
In the coming month, additional consultation sessions will be organised by other ENACT partners across Europe. The results will be consolidated and presented at the conference in May in Palermo, Italy, organized by Uniamoci.
